BOHS accredited courses

Our BOHS accredited courses include:

  • P304 – COSHH - Fundamentals of Risk Assessment and Control 
    A 3.5 day training course that teaches participants how to identify hazardous substances in a work environment and how to effectively control them - preventing or reducing the risk of occupational ill-health.
  • M200 - Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene
    A five day training course providing an overview of the fundamental principles of Occupational Hygiene in the workplace and the basis for anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards.
  • CCHRC – Certificate in Controlling Health Risks in Construction
    A  full-day course for construction supervisors, managers and safety advisors to learn how to identify and control health risks on a construction site.

Protecting Health in Cold Workplaces

The challenge

In late 2024, a leading online grocery retailer faced the need to address thermal risks associated with their frozen food order picking activities across multiple UK customer fulfilment hubs. Operating in extremely cold environments posed significant challenges to worker wellbeing, necessitating thorough risk assessments to ensure safety and compliance.

The solution

Our expert Occupational Hygienists developed a bespoke methodology in collaboration with the client, guided by BOHS standards and our 'expert level' accreditation. Conducting detailed on-site analyses during 12-hour night shifts in freezers, we engaged directly with workers and supervisors to understand their cold-related challenges. By combining occupational hygiene monitoring with precise environmental measurements, we delivered a comprehensive assessment of existing conditions and control measures.
